Feng Shui

Many people detox after a long period of binging on their vices. In new year, we get gym memberships, we give up smoking, we plan to do so much with our bodies for the better.

You can do the same for your home. Your there a great deal of your life, decluttering can be a very zen experience.

Theres an old phrase 'tidy house, tidy mind'. I believe in this. When your house is tidy, fresh, undusted and clean, theres a feeling of relaxation, of organisation that brings amazing peace of mind.

There are many instant fixes to bring this wonderful peace of mind.

Get rid of the clutter!

You've probably looked at your house, filled with clutter and totally disorganised, and thought 'this mess is doing my head in!'. It probably is. For your mind to think in an organised fashion, it helps to have a flow of clear, vibrant energy in your home.

When your home is cluttered, dirty, and untidy, it can cause a physical and emotional reaction, such as lack of energy, lack of attention, frustration and stress. Clearing clutter free's space in your home, allowing energy to flow more freely.

Do you come home to piles of boxes, unopened mail, and clothes on the floor? Do you have to jam cupboard doors shut because they are crammed with junk? If so, it's time to for a change! You'll be suprised the effect this change will have on your mental state and productivity.

You change your external world and it effects your inner self. By changing your home, your change the possibilities in your own life. Your removing obstacles, physically and mentally. Your creating harmony and balance. There's more space for opportunities.

Clean all the places where clutter tends to develop. Cupboards, under beds, tables, desks, the spare rooms, the garage, you know where you hide your clutter! This will greatly refresh the energy of your space.

You can invest in some storage boxes for things you need to keep. You can throw out things you really don't need.

The entrance to your home needs to be as welcoming and clear as possible. It's the first thing you see. You need to feel the 'home sweet home' feeling hit you when you walk in. You want to feel happy your home!

For items your considering throwing away, consider these rules:

  • Do I still use this item?
  • Do I keep it because it was expensive?
  • Does it have sentimental value?
  • Do I feel happy or miserable when I see it?
  • Does it get in rhe way of me moving around my home?
  • Answer these questions with honesty and you should be able to find out what possessions you really require, and which are just part of the scenary.

    Feng Shui

Feng shui meangs 'wind and water'. The ancient chinese used to balance the flow of natural energies in our surroundings. This would lead to positive effects on ones feelings and thoughts.

It deals with the physical location of your home. Your sanctuary.

It has been dubbed in some areas as 'acupunture for the home'

The feng shui process cleans your environment so chi energy can flow.

All sorts of problems can exist by having a cluttered home. Notice when you clean a room, and hoover it, how good it feels afterwards?

When a room is untidy, fresh energy cannot flow. This drains energy from the envrionment, it introduces indecision, unproductivity, and causes negative feelings.

Feng Shui helps you unleash energy flows by changing buildling design, where your furniture is, and making better colour schemes.

Light is an important factor. Dark, gloomy places may require mirrors and colours to create the illusion light is there.

One can do amazing things just by tidying up, cleaning and organising their furniture properly.

    To start

  • Change furniture positioning to create a social space. This will also allow energy to flow.
  • Move anything blocking windows.
  • Open your windows at least once a day to let fresh air in. This is vital. It's vital to ventilate your living area.
  • Use fresh flowers, not dead ones. Obvious reason!
