Coffee is commonly used as a drink, but it can also be applied as a medicine. It is a brain stimulant, causing sleeplessness and therefor is useful in cases of narcotic poisoning. (For this reason, incidentally, it is very good for snake bites, because it stops people falling into a coma.) Caffeine can be valuable for heart disease and fluid retention. As a powerful diuretic, it can help ease goat, rheumatism, gravel (crystals that form in the urinary tract) and dropsy.
