What it does

It is a cardiac tonic, stimulant and diuretic. It is also good as a remedy for fevers, asthma, colds, urinary complaints, gravel, (crystal that form in the urinary tract) and, centuries ago, plague. It is also taken as a homeopathic remedy for severe neuralgia in the back and loins. Recently, the use of butterbur has been recommended in easing migraine and painful mensutration. One of the most important developments is the treatment of cancer. In clinical tests, it has been shown toslow or stop the cancer spreading through the body. It has also become an effective remedy for severe asthma.
